The Hyundai Ioniq 6 will use the base model of their concept car, namely the Prophecy and still 1 base with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV GT.
– The puzzle about when the Hyundai Ioniq 6 will be launched is starting to come to light. This sedan car with electric technology will soon be launched by Hyundai on July 14, 2022. The plan is that this car will have its world premiere at the 2022 Busan Motor Show automotive event in South Korea.
Initially, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 would be introduced in March or April but had to be delayed until next July.
Ready to be introduced to the public
Information regarding the launch of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 did not come directly from Hyundai. One of the South Korean automotive media, TheKoreanCarBlog said they got a leak of the exact time of the launch of the Ioniq 6 from one of the Hyundai people.
In fact, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 was introduced around March or April. However, changes and revisions to several components forced the South Korean manufacturer to postpone the launch of the electric sedan, which is still 1 base with the Ioniq 5.
Later the Hyundai Ioniq 6 will use the base of their concept car, the Prophecy. This concept car has been introduced since 2020 and has been exhibited at several major auto shows in the world. Hyundai says that the Ioniq 6 will be called the ‘Electrified Streamliner’ which will feature a design similar to the Prophecy concept car.
For the production version later, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 will have a lighter weight than the concept car. This car itself will take the E-GMP platform which is also used in several electric cars of the Hyundai and Kia family such as the Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.
Regarding the drivetrain such as the electric motor and battery used, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 will also use the same specifications as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV GT. A 77.4 kWh battery with dual electric motors will be its flagship. This battery and electric motor can generate power up to 300 hp with a total distance of almost 500 Nm for the Long-Range version.
After launching the Ioniq 6, Hyundai will not stop there for the development of its electric car. In the future, several new products such as the Ioniq 7 and large SUVs based on the E-GMP platform are also being prepared and are predicted to be launched in 2024.
